  • Say the intention silently in your heart — no specific spoken formula is required.
  • Keep a printed Talbiyah card in your pocket for the first day.

Instructions

  1. 1Perform ghusl (full ritual bath) and wear the two white Ihram garments.
  2. 2Pray two rakʿah of Ihram if the time is not disliked.
  3. 3Make the intention (niyyah) for Umrah or Hajj in the heart, then recite Talbiyah.

Prohibitions

  • No perfume, cutting hair or nails, arguing, or intimate relations.
  • Men must not cover the head; women must not cover the face with a veil that touches it.
